The literacy department is here to help pupils further their knowledge of spelling, grammar and pronunciation, through a varied and intuitive curriculum.

The English department aims to encourage creativity, appreciation of literature, a love of reading and develop fully the powers of oracy (speaking and listening) and literacy (reading and writing).

Social Activities
Team Building

We take the students out on trips to various facilities, to introduce them to a range of external activities to help expand on their interests out of school time. These trips have been well received, and helps breakdown some of the school term. So far we have organised activities including golf and go-karting, and plan on many more in the near future.

Personal Studies
Study Time

We fully support our pupils in their studies. By teaching them in a supportive environment, and giving them the right level of individual attention specific to their needs, we can help to ensure that they get the most out of their study time.

Health & Fitness
Physical Education

Jason is the schools Physical Education co-ordinator, as well as the head of student welfare and learning support co-ordinator. The students look up to him as a role model, as he spends a lot of time with them. The students especially enjoy a game of football, and Jason is more than happy to join in and flaunt his skills!

Outdoor Activities

We strive to promote healthy living, and with a structured regime, work on improving the fitness of the students with a range of varied exercises, focusing on cardiovascular and stamina exercises, as well as motivating towards a more active lifestyle.

K9

Sports, football in particular, are one of our pupils favourite ways of enjoying their break times throughout the day. But its not only the students who love the beautiful game! Our K9 team are always up for the challenge, and relish in taking our boys on!!

Days out Scrapbook

A full school term isn’t complete without something to reward our students with for their hard work. On the 18th of July 2006 we took our pupils out for the day to the amusement park.Both the pupils and tutors enjoyed a fun-filled day, going on the various rides, and visiting the amusement arcades!

Science Scrap Book

On 11th June 2007, I had the opportunity to have a detailed look at a real cuttle fish. We suspended the science curriculum for the day and each group had the chance to be involved in the dissection of the cuttle fish. These pictures show the stages through the day. Everyone was interested even if they did not want to get their hands dirty!

Design & textiles

Art textiles allows an opportunity for students to use their creativity to make wearable and usable items. A variety of projects are completed throughout the year, from t-shirts to stuffed toys. For some of our students it is the first time they have used a sewing machine or even a needle and thread.

Using art therapy, the students learn to express themselves in a positive and rewarding manner. Here you can find a selection of some the works our students have produced.
